Simply clicking on the file will open it in iTunes or Windows Media Player, depending on your preferred platform. Due to small size and acceptable quality, MP3 files are accessible to a wide audience, as well as easy to store and share.īecause MP3 files are so prevalent, most major audio playback programs support them. MP3 files are the most widely-used audio file for consumers. MPEG-1 Audio Layer III or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III (MP3) is a digital, audio-coding format used to compress a sound sequence into a very small file to enable digital storage and transmission. Users can also preview M4A files by highlighting the file and pressing the spacebar.Īdditionally, M4A opens in VLC media player, Adobe Premiere Pro, Elmedia Player, Winamp, and a host of other programs.ĭeveloped by: ISO/ IEC, Moving Pictures Experts Group For Windows users, the default program is Windows Media Player. For Apple users, iTunes is the default program to open M4A files. M4A files open in most well-known, audio-playback programs, including iTunes, QuickTime, and Windows Media Player. M4A files are smaller in size while simultaneously better in quality than MP3 files, with which it shares the most similarities, in comparison to all other audio file formats. The first method can be done by right-clicking your footage and clicking Change Clip Speed from the drop-down menu.MPEG 4 Audio (M4A) compresses and encodes audio files by using one of two coder-decoder algorithms: Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) or Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC). There are a few different great ways to change the clip speed within DaVinci Resolve that this step-by-step guide will cover. Reversing a clip in DaVinci Resolve using Change Clip Speed Knowing what you’re going to speed ramp in post-production makes the actual speed ramp itself look much better than it normally would. If you can, keep speed ramping and reversing footage in mind while shooting your video. Rewinding footage could be used for comedic effect or to transition from one segment to the next. In filmmaking, it can be used to make a scene more “epic” seeming than it would normally be. Speed ramping and reversing footage can be used to bring the audience from one scene to the next in a spectacular fashion or to emphasize a certain point in the video. Why reverse your clip and speed ramp? Well, for those in the corporate world of video editing or creating content for social media, speed ramping and rewinding is almost an absolute necessity in a post-production workflow. This reverse effect can be used stylistically for a myriad of reasons. What this does is make it look as though your video is getting rewinded. Speed ramping can also work by reversing the speed of your video clip. While speed ramping is still incredibly possible at normal speeds, slow motion will for sure yield the best results. A higher frame rate video leads to smooth speed ramping because of the number of frames in the video. Slow-motion videos are typically best for the speed-ramping effect because of the high frame rate at which it was shot. This technique was made popular in films through Zach Snyder who famously used this technique in the movie 300. A speed ramp typically works best by speeding up slow-motion footage for a short period of time before slowing it down again. This is a great technique for corporate videos or for hyper-stylized filmmakers. One of these is known as speed ramping which is the process of digitally speeding up and then slowing down a video clip. Playing around with the speed results in varying effects. The clip speed of your video is simply how fast or slow your video clip is. This beginner’s DaVinci Resolve tutorial for macOS and windows devices will go over everything you need to know about how to change clip speed inside DaVinci Resolve 16, DaVinci Resolve 17, and DaVinci Resolve 18. NLEs such as Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere Pro CC have made speed-ramping footage more accessible than ever. Now, reversing a clip can be done right in post-production. In the past, reversing a clip would have to be done in the production phases using a specialized editing machine. Among these is the ability to reserve the speed of any given video clip. Today’s video editing software has significantly improved many video editing techniques. This thought is why people make a skydive. I am motivated by two signs in my home, a commonly available one says, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” It’s on my living room wall and I see it only after I have my morning tea beneath a sign on my kitchen cabinet that admonishes, “Life is not about going to the grave in a beautiful, well preserved body, but by sliding in sideways, totally worn out, and proclaiming, “WOW, what a ride!!” As anyone who’s been skydiving will tell you, you have to do it to understand the feeling of jumping from an airplane, free falling, and flying a parachute to the ground.Ī survivor with inoperable cancer wrote the following: When you’re retired and sitting in your rocking chair remembering all the really exciting things you’ve done in your life, skydiving will be on the list! Skydiving has always been the face of living life fully because today could be your last. In the song, it talks about going skydiving. In 2006, Tim McGraw came out with the song “Live Like You’re Dying.” The song captured a feeling that many people share about life being too short. Try as I might, I couldn’t seem to time a photo to capture the red and blue lights that sometimes flash on the i-FlashDrive when it’s plugged into the USB extension cord I use with my Mac mini. It’s spring loaded, so it’s easy to insert and remove the card. There’s a slot on one side of the i-FlashDrive for the microSD card. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information anywhere about the maximum storage your microSD card can have. The microSD card in this image was a 4GB card I’ve owned for a while. It weighs 11 grams, just over 1/3 of an ounce, with the microSD card in place. It measures about 2.2″ long X 0.8″ wide X 0.3″ thick with the end caps in place. It comes with clear plastic caps for each end. As mentioned, it has a Lightning connector on one end and a standard USB connector on the other. The i-FlashDrive Brando sent to The Gadgeteer is a small, white plastic device. Brando’s i-FlashDrive is only $30, plus you’ll need to supply your own microSD card. I’ve seen similar devices that promise these functions, but they are usually very expensive. It promises to let me play music or video files from the external storage, create/edit text files, make voice recordings, support Dropbox, and more. The packaging promises that the i-FlashDrive is “external memory expansion for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch”. You can use it with an iOS device or with a computer to transfer data between them. The i-FlashDrive external storage for iOS devices is basically a flash drive/microSD card reader with a standard USB plug on one end and an Apple Lightning plug on the other. I don’t want to have to sync one device with my computer and then sync the other to get the files on, nor do I always want to have to email files between devices. It would also be nice if I could exchange files between my iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, and my computer without involving iTunes. That doesn’t seem possible, because Apple doesn’t allow you to use memory cards. My next iPhone will have at least 64GB of storage, but until then it would be nice to find a way to increase the storage on the iPhone I have. This upgrade, I’ve regretted buying the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus, but exchanging it for a larger capacity would have meant another unbearable wait, so I’m stuck with it this time. We typically used our iPads for gaming, creating files, and other activities. That wasn’t a problem before, because we mostly used our iPhones for calling, texting, emailing, and navigation. Most of my hot rod 58 truk was welded with a lincoln weldpk 100 fluxcore welder. if you've only welded with mig, your still a non-welder. even sched 40 pipe is welded in 3 passes. as for thickness? no welder will weld 2" anything, yet 2" everything gets welded everyday with multiple passes. stick/tig/mig/fluxcore/carbonarc fabrication.Īny one that says you can't weld with fluxcore, doesn't know how to weld. i am an experienced welder/fabricator, did stick pipe welding for a many years. look at any rearend, most of the brackets, backing plate flanges and spring pads are welded on with fluxcore welders. While i'm not a fan of anything from harbor fright with a cord, i am a fan of fluxcore welders. This is a pretty decent welder and the customer service was great. I can swithch it to weld thicker stuff, but I have my Miller for that. 023 wire for sheetmetal.so I bought this and set it up just to do sheetmetal. I hate changing liners and rollers and tips to weld. I'm basically a Miller guy, but I picked up an Esab a while back because it was a good deal. Its way more than you want to spend, but something like this one or a similar one from the manufacturers above would be great. He was 1800 miles away and he learned how to use it on his own prettymuch. I bought a Miller 212 with Autoset for my son when he was in the service. Instead of trying to figure out what settings you need, you simply place the dial on the thickness of the material you want to weld and it adjusts for that. Yes it will cost more but you will love how easy it is to use for a beginner. My recommendation is that you purchase a Miller (or Hobart or Lincoln or Esab) that has "Autoset". Lots of little differences that you don't think about. When you are welding thick stuff its less of a problem, but when you are welding thin stuff the infinite control is much better. With a better machine you have infinite control where you can make a minor adjustment. With many machines the knobs have distinct settings that they click to. Things you won't notice are the stuff you wish you had later on. Hobart is like a Miller somewhat but a little less expensive. He then bought a Hobart and has been using it ever since. He was immediately disappointed with it and luckily was able to return it.but had to pay for shipping both ways. When it arrived it looked like a toy with all the undersize stuff. Had a friend years ago that bought a Clarke welder. Not only is the gun smaller but the cable is shorter making it hard to get to some things. The rollers that feed the wire often slip and replacement parts aren't available. The cheap welders downsize the gun and clamp and cable. Buy a good one and enjoy it forever, or scimp by and regret it. Seriously though, a welder is a "lifetime" tool. Buying a cheap welder is about the equivalent of buying a cheap condom.you will regret it later. You will find lots of variation in the ability of these machines when operating at its limits. If you have to weld something that is 1/8" thick, don't buy a welder thats rated to do 1/8.thats its maximum. The problem with getting something with marginal or little capability is you always end up needing to weld something else thats thicker. Over-harvesting is usually not a concern with comfrey. The larger, mature leaves also have lower concentrations of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, making them safer for use. Leaves can be harvested at any time they are present, although are best when large and mature. If you don’t want the plants to self-seed, remove flower stalks before they go to seed. The leaves and flowering parts are usually collected during the summer months, and the comfrey root is harvested during autumn. Ĭomfrey is easy to propagate from seeds in spring or with root cuttings during autumn. Comfrey can be planted in full sun, though in hot and dry environments, it is best to provide partial shade and water regularly. The leaves are rich in nitrogen and potassium with a decent amount of phosphorus as well, making them a wonderful home grown fertilizer.Ĭomfrey grows best in soggy and marshy areas, but it adapts well to most environments, thanks to its deep, strong roots. Unlike a salve, this lotion will stay fairly soft in the refrigerator.Ĭomfrey’s deep roots work to bring nutrients up from the subsoil. Blend with a hand mixer until you get a texture you’re happy with. Heat oil in a double boiler and stir until the beeswax is thoroughly blended. Lotion - To make a lotion with comfrey oil, combine 1 cup of infused oil with 30 grams of beeswax, and add 1 cup of comfrey tea (pour 1 cup of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of comfrey and let cool) Apply the oil liberally to aches, pains, injuries, skin rashes or other areas in need of healing.Ĭomfrey oil can be stored at room temperature, but will last much longer when refrigerated. After two weeks, strain out the herbs and rebottle the oil.įor a faster method, place your dried comfrey and oil in a pan and heat them on low for 30 minutes to an hour or until the oil takes on the color of the herbs. Close a lid on the jar, place it in a paper bag to protect it from direct sun exposure, and place it on a warm windowsill. The slower method involves packing a glass jar with dried comfrey leaves and then pouring oil over them. Oil - There are two popular ways to make comfrey oil, a slower and faster method. Comfrey poultices should be left in place for several hours (overnight is ideal). Wrap it with cloth or a bandage to hold it in place. Apply this thickly and liberally to the desired area. Crush or blend together chopped leaves, stems, and roots with a bit of water to form a paste. Poultice - Create a comfrey poultice using the leaf or root. Traditionally comfrey leaves and roots have been used internally and externally, however, due to the presence of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which can cause liver damage when ingested and used in high doses, it is usually recommended exclusively for external use. Comfrey should not be used on a dirty wound for the same reason, as it will trap dirt and puss under the rapidly healing skin. This could cause the surface of the wound to heal over before the depth of the wound, potentially creating an abscess. In addition to being an ideal herb for healing broken bones and torn ligaments, comfrey’s astringent and anti-inflammatory qualities make it ideal for treating skin conditions such as dark spots, damaged skin, psoriasis, and eczema.Ĭomfrey is such a potent wound healer that it should not be used on puncture wounds or deep cuts. Comfrey’s anti-inflammatory, demulcent, and astringent qualities also helps to reduce swelling, soothe, protect, and tone injured tissues. Rosmarinic acid helps relieve pain and inflammation while allantoin penetrates deep into the body’s tissues to speed up cell growth, which helps the body quickly replenish new collagen, connective tissue, and bone. The roots have a higher content of allantoin and rosmarinic acid, which give them an advantage over the leaves. The botanical name for comfrey means “to unite” or “grow together”, and its common name, 'knitbone' is an indication of its most common use for healing wounds and fractures.Ĭomfrey’s strong roots draw nutrients up from the soil which are stored in the roots and leaves, creating a powerful medicinal herb. Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is a herbaceous perennial with large broad, hairy leaves and flowering stalks bearing white, pink, or purple bell-shaped flowers that reach 1 m in height. |
